More roots and many fine root hair
The biostimulant DCM VITACT® F (image) combines a microbial and an organic component. In this process, special bacterial strains (Bacillus subtilis) are mixed with specific complex plant-based carbon chains. This offers a number of key advantages, Firstly, the structure of the carbon chains in DCM VITACT® F closely resembles that of humic and fulvic acids, which directly influence root structure. Secondly, Bacillus subtilis colonises the rhizosphere and releases the phosphorus present in the soil, making it available to the plant roots. Root development is improved with more roots and a large number of fine root hairs, both outdoors and in organic (potting soils) and mineral (rock wool) substrates. And, thirdly, improved nutrient uptake (for example, N, P, K and trace elements) stimulates top growth, increases vitality and optimises root and plant health.
Active MA-MH bag for the fresh produce industry
The Trendlife Gold MA-MH bag is the world's first bag of its kind for the fresh produce industry. It releases nano-sized compounds into the modified atmosphere in which the fresh product is placed. Nanotech compounds released from the bag film into the atmosphere react with excess water molecules released by the product. These nanotech compounds, or nanotubes, can destroy excess water molecules and maintain a specific humidity level. The bags control the decomposition process indirectly by reducing humidity inside the bag. Deka Plastik developed a special version of Trendlife Gold to inhibit the growth of pathogens and prevent infections, particularly during the most critical storage phases. The company also designed bags capable of delaying decomposition by releasing antimicrobial substances (image).

For food retailers, it increases pineapple sales and builds customer traffic. Piñabar effectively builds customer loyalty in the fresh fruit section. The manufacturer points out that it is ideal for use with any brand and has dramatically increased sales in over 11 countries across four continents.
Each roller temperature separately customisable
Conventional roller drying systems are often inefficient and, over time, they build up bacteria that is difficult to eliminate. This in turn can lead to the premature breakdown of the packed potatoes. The Haith Smart Dryer features a bed of stainless steel rollers. An independent heating element inside each roller can heat the roller surface temperature to up to 100ºC. Each roller is connected to the control system to allow the temperature to be set individually as required. The heat can then be gradually reduced as the potatoes move along the rollers, allowing the operator to determine how dry the tubers should be. Stainless steel rollers for easy disinfection prevent the risk of bacteria being transferred to the vegetables. The dryer has a special device to automatically remove the potatoes if the rollers stop for any reason.
Latest-generation hydraulic system
The HOOVER XL (image) is a suction machine for the extraction of leaves and plant debris from the ground and was specially developed by HORTECH for growers working for the processing market. It is equipped with four steering wheels and a sideways adjustable cutting bar as well as a "vacuum cleaner" consisting of an extractor with a protective filter fitted inside the bin. The bin has a capacity of 1,000 litres. The SLIDE FW XL (image), likewise developed by HORTECH, is a harvesting machine for baby leaf, rocket, spinach, and all leafy vegetables grown in greenhouses or outdoors. The machine has a load capacity of approx. 1,000 to 1,200 kg. Its most innovative features are its latest-generation hydraulic system and the front axle steering for ease of operation and improved displacement. Both machines will be presented for the first time at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2018.
Special gas mixture in the packaging
LIFE+ (image) uses Equilibrium Modified Atmosphere Packaging (EMAP). Creating a special gas mixture inside the packaging involves three elements: an unperforated deep-drawn tray with anti-fog coating, an active pad, and a laser-perforated sealing film. The trays are designed to maintain the modified atmosphere and prevent circulating air from reducing the effectiveness of the active pads. The Life+ system can be used with two types of absorbent pad developed in partnership with Sirane Group. The ANTB active antibacterial absorbent pad inhibits mould and fungal growth, and the ETHA active pad absorbs ethylene, slowing the ripening process of the packaged fruit. The packaging is sealed with a film with micro laser perforations developed in partnership with Plastopil. It has been specially designed to ensure a specific gas exchange and maintain the natural metabolism of the fruit, preventing fermentation.

ILPRA is convinced that the new model represents the best combination of quality and value for money available for this type of packaging – the result of more than 60 year's experience.
Water hygiene for healthier crops
Intra Hydrocare (image) is a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner and disinfectant. It eliminates pathogens in (irrigation) water and cleans irrigation systems completely. Its formulation and high stability ensure clean irrigation systems and prevent blocked drippers or sprayers. The elimination of pathogens by Intra Hydrocare ensures the best possible water quality. Water is one of the major sources of infection. Bacteria, fungi and viruses spread very easily in water systems and water storage facilities. Intra Hydrocare not only eliminates these pathogens, it also stimulates root development. After reaction, the hydrogen peroxide dissolves into water and oxygen. The higher level of oxygen in the water improves root development. This is beneficial in controlling problems like Crazy Roots in tomato and cucumber production.
Printing round objects without bruising
A method for printing fruit and vegetables with food colouring has been developed by Kellermeister Manns GmbH. The trick is to print round objects of varying shape and diameter without bruising. The company uses a process with special food dyes that, unlike laser engraving, do not affect the fruit's taste or shelf life. With the patent-pending method developed by the exhibitor, even delicate tomatoes can be printed without any marks or bruising. Anything is possible, from customer logos for marketing purposes, growers' logos to identify the brand, or batch numbers for traceability (image). Apples, pears, oranges, bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet peppers and many other fruit and vegetable varieties can be visually enhanced in this way.
Big taste with interesting plant-based ingredients
Euroma presents Botanical Dressings (image) as a European premiere at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2018. Traditional dressings are given an unexpected "taste twist". The dressings are 100% "Clean Label" and are low on salt, sugar and saturated fatty acids. Their striking flavours are created with interesting plant-based ingredients such as yuzu, algae, apricot, rose petals and elderflowers. The dressings are available in a range of different packaging options. Euroma's product developers can also tailor the product to customer requirements.
Improved development and health of root and leaf systems
The "Microline" product line is based on microbiological compounds to restore the biological fertility of soil (rhizosphere) and plants (phyllosphere). The action of these compounds leads to improved development and health of root and leaf systems, solubilisation, increased availability of nutrients in the soil, and residue degradation. The "Energemma" formula is rich in boron and zinc. These promote bud and fruit formation after harvest. The formula is enriched with amino acids, in particular glutamic acid and glycine as well as humic acids. The powder formula "Rust-Ger" is based on trace elements and kaolin. It prevents or limits fruit rust by improving appearance (in particular in the case of pomaceous fruit) and limits sunburn by reflecting the sun's rays. These three new products will be presented for the first time in Europe at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2018.
Temperature data logger with Bluetooth technology
The ethylene absorption filters from Ozeano make it possible to maintain low ethylene levels and thus guarantee optimal vegetable preservation. Because they do not come into direct contact with the fruit and leave no residues, the filters are not considered additives. The developers' experience in the sector has given them a better understanding of the transport and storage process and the problems that may occur, resulting in a new, patented version of the ethylene filter (image) that that prevents staining in refrigerated containers and maximises filter efficiency. The filter will be presented at FRUIT LOGISTICA 2018 for the first time worldwide. Ozeano has also recently launched the Coollogger (image), its own temperature data logger brand. The patent-pending device works with Bluetooth technology and is unique on the market, according to company sources.
