Berlin Secrets with Mariangela Zerpa Dreyer
Discover Berlin after a day at the trade fair: in the new Berlin Secrets series, FRUIT LOGISTICA team members offer personal insights into their city.

Berlin has so much more to offer than just appointments, exhibition stands and hotel rooms. FRUIT LOGISTICA visitors often only know the route between the airport and the trade show, missing out on the city's unique features in the process. Berlin Secrets invites you to discover the city through the eyes of FRUIT LOGISTICA team members with personal recommendations. Market Manager Mariangela Zerpa Dreyer's tips show visitors the lively side of the city.
Mariangela Zerpa Dreyer
My name is Mariangela Zerpa Dreyer, and I am a Market Manager at FRUIT LOGISTICA. Berlin is a city where history and the present coexist. I like how historic buildings, such as a former post office, continue to exist as cafés or cultural venues, each with their own unique atmosphere. The city also attracts people from all over the world, as reflected in the variety of restaurants serving Spanish and Latin American cuisine, for example.
Breakfast in the old post office
I like the Hallesche Haus because it's quiet and relaxed, just like Berlin. It's a great place to enjoy a good coffee and a small pastry, and the breakfast is excellent too. Whether you fancy eggs Benedict, pulled pork brioche or a green omelette, there's something for everyone. The large brick building is located at the Hallesches Tor underground station and is easily accessible by public transport. I always find something beautiful in the small concept store.

Shopping and enjoying yourself at Bikini Berlin
Bikini Berlin is my favourite place because it combines a designer boutique mall with a creative atmosphere and a unique view of the zoo. I especially like visiting in the late afternoon, when golden light floods into the building and the atmosphere becomes relaxed, urban and inspiring. It's the perfect place to take a break, browse and experience Berlin 'from above'.

Tapas at Borriquito
When I want to enjoy good food with colleagues in the evening, I head to Borriquito, which means 'little donkey' in English. Located not far from the exhibition grounds, this establishment has been serving Spanish tapas since 1972. My favourite dishes are the gambas al ajillo and the pulpo.

Mexican vibes at Mama Rosas Taqueria
After a long day at the trade show, when I'm craving something tasty and uncomplicated to eat, I visit Mama Rosa's Taqueria. This small, friendly restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere reminiscent of Berlin-Kreuzberg and serves authentic Mexican street food. The tacos al pastor are a must. I also recommend the quesadillas with homemade salsa.

Berlin bar culture – from casual to exclusive
Berlin is famous for its lively nightlife and has many great bars. One of my favourites is the Green Door in Schöneberg. I love its hidden, warm, retro vibe. To get in, you have to ring the bell. Excellent cocktails are served alongside funk, jazz and soul music. My favourite drinks are the Green Door Highball and the classic whiskey sour. Bar Tausend is also tucked away behind an inconspicuous door. I like the futuristic atmosphere, and I enjoy going there when there's a DJ playing. I recommend the Tausend Martini. At the Velvet Bar, I like to let the bartender decide what I should drink. His surprise creations are all part of the experience for me. It never gets boring because there are new drinks made with regional ingredients every week.
